Group Classes
Beginning in March 2009, we will be offering a variety of Group Classes and Activities through the Villa Rica Parks and Recreation Department.
When we established WaterDog Kennels in 1996, we offered group and private training sessions. However, as our business grew, we had to phase out group classes. Over the last few months, it has become clear that folks need an inexpensive alternative to just about everything, including dog training!
As a result, we have brought back our group classes and we have added a twist. Although we have not yet finalized our plans -- watch here for updates -- we plan on offering four programs through the rec center.
We will offer two traditional Obedience and Manners Classes, beginner and advanced. Then we will also offer Puppy Playschool for dogs under six months. This will cover a combination of obedience, manners and socialization that will help get your puppy off on the right foot.
Finally, our most exciting offering will be YAPPY HOUR. Yappy hour will be an hour-long session of play, socialization, games and activities for all dogs. This is basically a supervised free-for-all, our local version of a dog park. It will be offered two nights a week for an hour each time.
You can review our tentative schedule to the right. We will keep this page updated as our plans our finalized.
All owners must participate in orientation and all dogs must undergo temperament testing. In addition, we will require proof of current vaccinations and flea/tick prevention.

GROUP CLASS INFORMATION
WHATTADOG - DOG TRAINING & PLAYTIME
All classes are held at the Villa Rica Civic Center and Sports Complex. Classes are approximately 45 minutes long with the remainder of the hour for socialization and play. Yappy Hour is a full hour of play and socialization.
Tuesdays, 6 pm
(5-week courses beginning Mar 10, Apr 28, Jun 16 and Aug 4)
Whattadog Good Puppy Playschool**
for puppies six months or younger. Topics and lessons include socialization, manners, housebreaking, obedience, behavioral issues and more.
$60 per five-week course, min. 4, max. 10
Thursdays, 6 pm
(5-week courses beginning Mar 12, Apr 30, Jun 18 and Aug 6)
Whattadog Obedience & Manners Beginner**
for dogs six months or older. Topics and lessons include socialization, manners, basic obedience and behavioral issues.
$60 per five-week course, min. 4, max. 10
Thursdays, 8 pm
(5-week courses beginning Mar 12, Apr 30, Jun 18 and Aug 6)
Whattadog Obedience & Manners Advanced
for dogs six months or older that have completed the beginner class successfully. Topics and lessons include more advanced obedience, working with distractions, improving control at distance and more.
$60 per five-week course, min. 4, max. 10
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7 pm
Whattadog Yappy Hour**
(5-week sessions beginning Mar 10, Apr 28, Jun 16 and Aug 4)
playtime and sports for all ages! Supervised play, socialization and sports activities – agility, Frisbee, retrieving and more. Groups may be segmented by size or temperament as needed.
$40 per five-week session, min. 4
**All first-time dogs and handlers must attend orientation on the MONDAY PRIOR to their class start date. Puppies will meet on the prior Monday at 6 pm. Beginners will meet on the prior Monday at 6:30 pm. Yappy Hour Participants will meet on the prior Monday at 7 pm. We must have copies of current vaccinations at this time.
